Here at Gillman Honda San Antonio, as much as we take pride in selling new and used Honda cars, driver safety is at the top of our list. And with National Teen Driver Safety Week approaching, our dealers are partnering with the Selma, TX Police Department to raise awareness about teen driver safety and seat belt usage. While new Honda cars are loaded with advanced safety features, there are still preventative measures that every driver should take when behind the wheel.

This year’s National Teen Driver Safety Week takes place October 20 through 26. This event is now in its 12th year, and it is dedicated to raising awareness and seeking solutions to prevent teen injuries and deaths on the road. As new drivers, teens do not have always have the necessary experience to make informed decisions while on the road, and this event will help them make safe decisions. This grassroots movement has brought millions of teens, parents, schools, law enforcement, advocates, and policymakers from across the country together to tackle car crashes, which are the number one cause of death for teenagers in the United States.

One of the goals of the movement is first to seek change on a local level with a seat belt check and a safe driving pledge wall. On a larger scale, the organizers meet with elected officials, teens, and others using National Teen Driver Safety Week to create positive change. Instead of trying to scare teens with showing them the risks of dangerous driver, the organizers try to focus on positive actions that can change driver behaviors.
