When Honda finally debuted their line of 11th-generation 2017 Honda Civic models, long-time fans of the brand and the vehicle itself were incredibly excited about all the slick versions of a vehicle that has been so popular for the marque over time. Of all those models, however, none has generated quite so much buzz as the Honda Civic Type R, which brings more power and style to the line than any other version of the sedan.
That of course is saying a lot considering how well the model has been reviewed so far, but the Type R exists for the primary purpose of driving really, really fast. It actually has been a huge hit overseas for years thanks to its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but that engine is getting a once-over for American Honda audiences, which could mean even more power. Some estimates have the number topping out at 340 hp, but so far we simply don't know what the official number will be.
We do know that Honda designers have made the thing gorgeous, with a stylish front end and a slick rear spoiler. That, along with the massive performance numbers, make for what is sure to be a really fun automobile. It won't find its way to Gillman Honda San Antonio until next year, but this is the sort of car sure to be worth the wait.
