When Honda first announced their plans for the 2017 Honda Civic, the one vehicle in the lineup that fans of the brand instantly grew most excited about was the new Honda Civic Type R, which would find its way to production somewhere toward the end of the generational rollout. Most recently, we were blessed here at Gillman Honda San Antonio with the debut of the new 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, which is in itself a gorgeous car worthy of high praise and general excitement, but that only serves as a precursor to a vehicle that is going to look every bit as sporty (considerably more so, actually) and will produce quite a bit more performance for those Honda drivers that always have longed for a Honda Civic model that could seriously shred some asphalt.
"We promised the most ambitious, sportiest Civic lineup ever and we're delivering on that promise with each new Civic," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "For the first time ever in America, Honda fans and enthusiasts will have access to the ultimate in Civic performance in the form of the new Type R."
The prototype for this model will debut soon at the 2016 Mondial de L’Automobile in Paris, France, and while it won’t be an exact precursor to the production model which eventually will be sold at dealerships, it will be a great preview to what is likely on its way. There never has been a Honda Civic Type R sold here in the U.S., but that’s about to change, and at your Honda dealership serving San Marcos we couldn’t be more excited about it!
