Every automaker on the face of the planet wants to claim that they are among the most fuel-efficient auto brands in the industry, but it doesn’t take long behind the wheel of a Honda vehicle watching the MPG estimator creep skyward to know that when it comes to vehicles like the 2016 Honda HR-V, that green reputation absolutely shows itself in practice.
This isn’t just conjecture, of course, as Green Car Journal[1] recently named the all-new HR-V their “Green SUV of the Year” for the 2016 model year, and we here at Gillman Honda San Antonio are thrilled to see such recognition for a model that was developed primarily to offer the best of both worlds in terms of utility and efficiency.
Specifically, the HR-V was lauded for offering both sporty driving dynamics and the top fuel efficiency rating in its segment, though it earned brownie points for pulling in an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle designation, as well. This little crossover gets better fuel efficiency than a lot of sedans, which probably has a lot to do with why it was given such a prestigious award.
"The Honda HR-V is a truly unique new subcompact crossover, delivering the space, utility, comfort and feature content of a larger vehicle, with the sporty driving dynamics and class-leading fuel economy ratings on par with a small car," said John Mendel, executive vice president of Auto Sales for American Honda. "All of us at Honda truly appreciate Green Car Journal for recognizing the HR-V as Green SUV of the Year and as the latest in a growing lineup of products with class-leading efficiency and low emissions."
Here at Gillman Honda San Antonio, we’re happy to give you a closer look at this increasingly decorated CUV. They don’t make them much greener, and now it has the award to prove it.
