When budget-conscious consumers make the decision to purchase a “new” vehicle, there often is a real internal struggle about whether to purchase a brand new automobile or a used or certified pre-owned model, with cost being the primary factor in ultimately making a decision. Vehicles like the 2016 Honda Fit and 2016 Hyundai Accent, however, allow consumers to get behind the wheel of a brand new vehicle for surprisingly affordable prices, but while both have an ideal starting price, they aren’t created equal. If given a choice between these two models, the Fit will almost always be the more desirable option.

This isn’t just conjecture, as the Fit offers quite a few features that the Accent does not, particularly as it pertains to safety, fuel efficiency and cargo space.

In regard to safety, the Fit has put up superior results on just about every crash test performed by either the IIHS or the NHTSA. As an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and a 5-Star overall rated vehicle according to the federal government, the Fit is arguably the safest vehicle in its class, where the Accent has put up inferior ratings almost across the board, including a “Poor” rating in the IIHS small overlap frontal crash test.

When it comes to efficiency, the Fit boasts better EPA numbers both in the city and overall, which is a huge boon for a small vehicle built in large part to save money at the gas pump.

Finally, there’s interior cargo space, which isn’t even a contest thanks to the Magic Seat in the Fit, which folds down to create as much as 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space for all sorts of different cargo. The Accent doesn’t even come close to that, even with its own rear seat folded down.

While both are respectable models in their own rights, the Fit, currently available at your friendly neighborhood Honda dealership, Gillman Honda San Antonio, is clearly the superior option.
