Here at Gillman Honda San Antonio, we see hundreds and hundreds of customers every year that walk into our building on the hunt for a new Honda car, SUV, or minivan, and of course we are happy to oblige, particularly because “official” sales numbers for a given year revolve around the sale of new vehicles.
That doesn’t mean, however, that we don’t also sell a host of truly excellent used and certified pre-owned Honda vehicles as well, and frankly, for many of the customers we see walk through our doors, buying used is the best financial decision for their families and their budget.
Not only are the starting prices of used models lower than new ones, but there are several other ways to save money by buying a pre-owned automobile. For starters, the depreciation a customer experiences is lower if the vehicle already is three or four years old. Cars lose most of their value in those first few years and then depreciate at a much slower rate thereafter. Skipping the heavy depreciation right off the bat keeps thousands of dollars in drivers’ pockets beyond the thousands they’ll save on the sticker price.
Furthermore, insurance costs are lower for used vehicles, in part because used cars have less value to replace and in part because some elements of car insurance can be dropped for pre-owned models.
Perhaps best of all, certified pre-owned models can attach extended warranties onto certain best-selling models, like a used Honda CR-V or a used Honda Civic, among others. This gives buyers more peace of mind than they’re accustomed to with a used vehicle purchase, which is exactly what we hope to accomplish for our San Antonio, TX buyers. That, and saving them a whole bunch of money.
