While it's not the sort of thing that makes or breaks a person's decision to buy a 2016 Honda Odyssey versus some other minivan, the fact that the range-topping Touring trim of Odyssey actually includes a built-in vacuum cleaner is something that has gotten the model considerable good press since debuting on the 2014 model year version of the people-pusher.

Of course, as we all know, buying the highest trim of any automobile can make certain features and creature comforts a little inaccessible to the car-buying masses, which is why Honda is reportedly considering making the HondaVAC available on all Odyssey trims as a standalone option.

By no means is this a sure thing, especially considering that the HondaVAC requires special paneling, wiring and equipment to make happen, all of which adds cost to the manufacturing process, but if there's a cost-effective way to get this convenient built-in vacuum cleaner into more Odyssey models, Honda sounds open to considering a change in its offerings.

"We get a lot of questions (about the HondaVAC)," said Jenny Gilger, VP of Honda product planning, in a recent interview with Edmunds. "I think a lot of customers would love to have it as an accessory."

We here at Gillman Honda San Antonio actually get a lot of the same questions, not only for our new models for our pre-owned Honda Odyssey inventory, as well. Customers with families would love an easy way to keep their minivans clean, and short of lugging around an actual shop vac all the time, this bit of technology really is a practical alternative.

For now, though, the HondaVAC only appears in the Touring trim of the 2016 Honda Odyssey. Hopefully, though, that will change very soon.
