Here at Gillman Honda of San Antonio, we sell more than our fair share of 2016 Honda Pilot models, mostly because they make for great, reliable family vehicles and many, many customers step into our building looking for just such a thing. The beauty of the Pilot, however, is that it’s an extremely versatile SUV, proven in practice through the modifications applied to a couple of Pilot models at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

For those that aren’t familiar with SEMA, it’s an amazingly entertaining exhibition that highlights the incredible things that can be done to a vehicle beyond just the standard dealership offerings. Almost all of the vehicles that appear at SEMA are heavily modified, just like the aforementioned Pilot models were at the 2015 show.

The first modded Pilot model was something the automaker called the Pilot Black Edition concept, which was fitting because the black motif absolutely drove the design of this custom SUV. Other than its intimidating dark presence, this Pilot featured special bumper trim, door trim, some really slick bumper boards, a new grille, custom window trim, black wheels and more.

Also appearing at SEMA was the Pilot Baja Desert Pre-Runner, a performance-heavy SUV covered in Honda Racing decals. It features larger tires and a host of other off-roading hardware that make this vehicle look absolutely ready for the SCORE 1000 Baja race.

Both models go a long way toward showing customers what they can do with their Honda vehicles even after they’ve brought them home from the dealership. These are surprisingly customizable automobiles, and we want to help our customers personalize them as much as possible so that they’re to their exact tastes.
