There are two different mindsets for customers who walk through the doors here at Gillman Honda San Antonio. One consumer type is looking to buy the latest, greatest automobile and only plans on driving it for a couple years, at which point they’ll trade it in and buy the latest and greatest automobile all over again.

The other type, though, wants to buy a vehicle that they can pay off in five years and then drive into the ground for as long as the hardware will hold up, and believe it or not Honda has more of the latter type of customers than just about any other automaker in the world right now.

Here in the United States, at least, consumers are holding onto their Honda vehicles like gold bullion, and that sort of commitment shows that they’re at least as precious. According to a recent study by iSeeCars.com, Honda is one of two very clear industry leaders in terms of consumers keeping their vehicles for a decade or longer, as five of the top fifteen models in this study were Honda-brand autos, and each of them saw at least 22% of their original owners keeping them for ten or more years.

The models in the study included the 2015 Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, Honda Element and 2016 Honda Accord, with the CR-V topping the list at 28.6% of owners keeping their vehicles for a decade. Knowing this, it’s no wonder the CR-V is the best-selling SUV in the industry.

Keeping a car forever is only one way to do the buying experience, but it apparently works for about a quarter of the people who walk through our dealership. Knowing this, we’re sure happy that Honda gives consumers so many great, reliable, long-lasting auto options.
