In the history of Honda, no model line has sold more units than the Civic, and based on what the automaker has announced over the course of the last several months that isn’t likely to change any time soon with the release of several new and updated Civic models, all of which should revolutionize the car and generate a ton of excitement from fans of the brand all over the country.
One early debut, specifically for the new 2016 Honda Civic Coupe, will occur this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and while we don’t have a ton of details about the vehicle we do know enough to be getting excited about what should be a much sportier version of the car.
A press release ahead of the exhibition said the Civic Coupe would be exactly that by “showcasing even sportier lines” than the sedan version of the vehicle that also debuted this month. Beyond that, however, all we really know is that the drivetrain options in the two-door will be the same as those in the four-door: a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter turbocharged one. Either is a solid selection in terms of performance and efficiency, but that has come to be expected from the Civic line.
Of course, the Civic Coupe and standard sedan are just the start of what is going to be an incredibly diverse and exciting batch of new Civic models this year, including new Si, Type R and hatchback models. For now, though, we here at your friendly neighborhood Honda dealers near Selma are just excited to see this new Civic Coupe so we can’t start to get a sense of how this next-generation of awesome Civic models will look and operate.
