Longtime Honda customers looking seriously into buying their first new automobile in a few years are about to have their minds blown by all the slick new infotainment software set to debut for the first time in a handful of Honda vehicles for the 2016 model year.
A few years ago, it was revolutionary for Honda vehicles just to feature special app functionality among the other myriad standard audio options, but now other infotainment technologies are going to a whole new level thanks to a special operating system that uses a driver's phone to access a number of apps through either easy touchscreen buttons or voice activation.
Any compatible smartphone device can send any of a number of apps to the vehicle's touchscreen display, including (but not limited to) official map, phone, messaging, music, and podcast apps as well as independent apps that offer a range of integrated radio, podcast, and music options. Basically, this keeps drivers' eyes on the road rather than on their phones, which is a huge safety boon considering how many accidents are caused every year because of distracted driving.
As for this technology's relationship to Honda, we here at Gillman Honda of San Antonio are excited to announce that a handful of Honda models will receive more integrated functionality this coming model year. The 2016 Honda Accord (EX, EX-L and Touring trims), 2016 Honda Accord Coupe (EX, EX-L and Touring trims) and 2016 Honda Civic (EX, EX-T, EX-L and Touring trims) will all have these capabilities and more.
As your Honda dealership near Selma, we know this will be received well by our customers, especially considering how many of them own smart devices. For them, this should be a game-changer.
