Distracted driving, it's been proven, is nearly as dangerous as drunk driving, and smartphone use while behind the wheel of a vehicle is a huge reason why so many people end up in dangerous situations every single day. The good news is that the 2016 Honda Accord will attempt to remove some of that distracted driving by integrating both smoother audio software which allow for voice-activated control of several popular smartphone apps. Of course, they also help make driving more enjoyable, but it's the safety side of things that really make these auto-centric operating systems so handy.
These should be really nice additions to the latest version of the best-selling Honda car currently in existence, due for a bit of a refresh next model year. It's not a generational upgrade, as it more or less will look very similar to the model that we currently sell here at Gillman Honda San Antonio, but technology and safety upgrades are enough to make this mid-cycle refresh very exciting.
While the new smartphone operating systems help with that safety, they aren't the only new additions to the Accord; a new Honda Sensing suite of safety features also will be made available as an option (or will come standard on the Touring trim). These include Collision Mitigation Braking System with Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control, and they all work together to make our drivers safer than they've ever been.
Obviously this newest iteration of the Accord has not yet been released, but these are the kinds of details that make us very excited for the road ahead.
