There's a bit of an unfair misconception that green cars are necessarily lame cars, and while that can occasionally be true for some boxy hybrid hatchbacks with the performance numbers of a moderately efficient tortoise, it certainly isn't true for all these vehicles. In fact, Car and Driver magazine recently put out a list of ten green cars that are not, in fact, lame, and we here at Gillman Honda San Antonio were happy to see that the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid was among those mentioned.
While the standard Honda Accord New Braunfels drivers love so much makes the Car and Driver "10 Best Cars" list pretty much every year thanks to great safety scores, solid efficiency, loads of great features and well-documented reliability, the hybrid version of the vehicle gets to claim all the same boons, but with even better EPA numbers.
The important thing to note with the Accord Hybrid, however, is that it still boasts more than respectable power thanks to a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine paired up with a 166-hp electric motor. Combined, they create just shy of 200 total system horsepower that make for a very engaging drive.
Also, the latest generation of Accord has been lauded for looking really lovely, meaning this ultra-efficient, technologically-advanced sedan has done more than enough to earn the respect of both reviewers and actual drivers.
While it's true that some green cars lack in performance, Honda is proving that the tides are turning in that arena for some hybrids. The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid, according to Car and Driver, is among the most fun of these next-generation green cars available today.
