The Honda Accord has always struck a delicate balance between reliability and unpredictability. Selma drivers browsing the Honda Accord Coupe and Honda Accord Sedan at Gillman Honda San Antonio have always been able to count on a certain level of consistency -- excellent fit and finish, great handling, a good feature set, and terrific value -- while never quite knowing what surprises Honda had up its sleeve from one year to the next. That pattern holds true with the 2017 Honda Accord, as the company continues to surprise with their flagship car.
2017 Honda Accord Details
The Honda Accord received a mid-cycle upgrade in 2016 that introduced minor cosmetic changes, new powertrain options, and some new technology. After a significant redesign, manufacturers tend to hold steady in the model year that follows-- that pattern holds here, although Honda does have some surprises in store.
The first of these is the return of the Honda Accord Hybrid, which had been pulled from the lineup in 2015 for a redesign. It comes back in three trims -- Base, EX-L, and Touring -- that boast the best fuel economy of any Honda vehicle. The smaller battery pack means more trunk capacity than the previous model. The redesigned powertrain uses an Atkinson Cycle inline four-cylinder engine alongside two electric motors, delivering 212 horsepower when the entire system is engaged.
As for the Honda Accord sedan and coupe variants, the same engine and transmission options carry over from 2016. That means a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that's tuned for 185 horsepower in the base trim and 189 horsepower in the Honda Accord Sport. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the base trim and available on the V-6 coupe-- other trims get a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The other powertrain is a 278 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
2017 Honda Accord Trim Levels
Most trim levels of the 2016 Honda Accord carry over to 2017. Therefore, the Honda Accord sedan is available in LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V-6, and Touring trims, while the Honda Accord coupe is available in LX-S, EX, EX-L, EX-L V-6 and Touring trims. However, there are additions. There's the previously mentioned Honda Accord Hybrid, and there's also a 2017 Accord Sport Special Edition that has leather seats with red accent stitching, heated seats, and the choice of manual or automatic transmission, among other features.
