The subcompact Honda Fit hatchback was introduced in 2001 and came to the United States as a 2007 model. The 2017 Honda Fit marks the tenth anniversary of the car's introduction here, and it holds steady on the features that have made it popular the world over. The version available to the San Marcos drivers served by Gillman Honda San Antonio squeezes big performance and reliability into a tiny package that leaves plenty of room for fun.

2017 Honda Fit Details

The 2017 Honda Fit carries over quite a bit from its 2016 version. The same LX, EX, and EX-L trim levels are back. The 1.5-liter 130 horsepower direct-injected inline four-cylinder engine returns too, as does the six-speed manual transmission that's standard on the LX and EX. Little surprise that the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) that's optional for the LX and EX (and standard on the EX-L) returns. Lower trim levels can opt for Sport Mode and a paddle shifter with the CVT, but both are standard on the EX-L. The LX rides on 185 / 60 R15 84T all-season tires and 15-inch wheels, while the upper trims have 16-inch alloy wheels shod with 185 / 55 R16 83H all-season tires.

2017 Honda Fit Safety and Special Features*

Like many new Honda cars, the 2017 Honda Fit includes Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body design, three-point restraints, and airbags, plus advanced active safety systems like a multi-angle rearview camera, Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control, and ABS with electronic brake distribution and brake assist. To add some fun to your drive, the available technology includes Bluetooth hands-free and streaming audio, and a four-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo that supports digital file playback. Upper trims can upgrade to a 180-watt six-speaker sound system with SMS support, Pandora compatibility, and the HondaLink Next Generation infotainment system.

While we love all that technology, one of the best features of the Honda Fit has less to do with tech than with innovative design. By moving the gas tank forward, the area behind the front seats is flatter. When you stow the second-row seats (which takes a matter of seconds), you end up with 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space. That's more than some much larger crossovers, and makes the Honda Fit much more practical than its small size would suggest.

Buying a 2017 Honda Fit

The name of the 2017 Honda Fit is pretty appropriate, since it "Fits" five passengers in comfort. It can also "Fit" a lot more than you'd expect with the rear seats stowed flat. Most important, given its fun drive, its reliability, and wallet-friendly price tag, don't be surprised if the Honda Fit is just the right "Fit" for you. Visit Gillman Honda San Antonio today to test drive it or any of our other new Honda cars. We serve San Marcos from our showroom at 16044 Interstate 35 North in Selma, TX
